On the evening of December 4th  a bunch of loud ruckus people gathered together as they usually do on the first Tuesday of each month.  This was a little different than the regular meeting though.  There were some faces that don’t make it out to every meeting during the year.  Those old friends and acquaintances, it was good to see them again.  The mood was easy and ready for some fun.  The business portion of the meeting was rushed through, there was a lot of stuff up front that showed a lot of generosity was in our midst.  The purpose, to raise some money for 2 very worthwhile causes.  One of them is the Food Bank and the other was for the handicapped kids.

The funds raised from the rich generosity of people who were there was almost overwhelming.  Can’t thank the donors & purchasers enough and a job well done Harold and Henry.  So, onto the numbers.

A very generous donation from Tilbury Cement Ltd., of Delta, B.C., helped raise a sum of $605 cash for the Surrey Food Bank.  Along with the items from Tilbury, there were numerous food stuffs and canned goods brought in from our club members.  The estimated total value of these items was approximately $900.   An estimated total of $1,505.00 is to be shared between the Surrey Food Bank and the Langley Food Bank.

Well-done troupe ! !

The bidding, on so many items from t-shirts & hats to a 383 stroker, resulted in proceeds which were almost double that of last year – amazing!  There will be  $2,700.00 going to the Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Association.  This will definitely help keep a couple of those horses well fed.  The efforts of the V.T.E.A. has certainly touched our hearts at BCHRA.  To witness the smiles and the joy that radiates from those kids when they are atop those beautiful horses.   ;-)   The V.T.E.A is located at 6918 232 St., Langley, B.C., V2Y 2J5.
