A few words from members before the photo album

the Browns the Jeboults the Ducommuns

Fer yur info we arrived at 9.00 am and decided to order, damn good thing, our portions were gigantic and enuff to tide us over til the scoff at Ron's. Although we lost the gang several times due to the many lights on the route, we were able to get all together as we turned down into the Stave Lake Dam tourist parking area. We selected the lower lot so we were all together and able to watch all the cars. It was real nice of the Prov. Gov't staff to assign an employee to act as a security watch for us . . . . he was a young fellow who is currently restoring a 72 Mustang and did a swell job looking out for all our rides.

While most of the group toured the dam site, we talked to some visitors from England, some locals and Bruce Bensmiller and I reminisced over our False Creek, Digney, Haney and Langley racing days. We must get these 'good ol times' on tape!!! You instructed us as to when to leave and we were ready, a quick turn around the lot and we're outa there. As we cruised up the hill out of the parking lot, there was web master Dale with a camera recording the exit of all the rodders. A circuitous route took us down the mountain to the Lougheed Hwy. and across the Fraser River over the Mission Bridge. East on Harris Rd. (a local bypass) and west to the beautiful multi-acre homes of the "poor farmers" that reside on the rolling hills of the Fraser Valley. The Latham's spread exemplifies country living in the finest with a lovely home surrounded by their hard work planting several areas of unique foliage, use of different garden whatnots, custom stepping stones and many shrubs to create individual gardening sites. Apart from their lovely home, is a rodder's dream of a shop containing a hoist, all the equipment you'd ever want and enough room to store all the items needed to build a quality rod. Unfortunately, Ron's '32 Buick coupe project was in the paint shop so we didn't get to view it. Ellie and Myrna promoted a 50/50 draw and it was won by a gal I have never seen before . . . hopefully she came with a regular member and the money will go to a project under construction. Harold, Mike, Bob and a couple of others grilled the burgers and dogs and we all had plenty to eat with the salads, condiments and sauces available. We enjoyed hearing about other runs from here to the eastern coast attended by some of our other members and relaxed under the huge Maple trees surrounding Ron's back yard. It was after 6 PM before we were able to back out of their driveway for our short cruise home to Hatzic Lake.
